What are distilled botanical beverages and how to taste them?

These are not ordinary syrups or juices. These are beverages made using traditional distillation methods (similar to gin or rum), but without using alcohol in the final process.

  • How to use: Most of them (e.g., juniper-based drinks) are best mixed with premium tonic at a ratio of 1:3.
  • Pure taste: Some creations, such as "Gnista", feature rich smoky and woody notes, so they can also be enjoyed neat with ice.

What is non-alcoholic wine? How is it made?

More and more people in Lithuania are looking for alternatives to traditional alcohol – and non-alcoholic wine is becoming one of the most popular choices. But what is it really? Is it just juice with a label, or something more?

Non-alcoholic wine is not juice

Unlike fruit juice, non-alcoholic wine is made from the same grapes as regular wine. The entire process is the same:

  • The grapes are fermented,
  • Aromas, flavor, acidity, tannins – everything that makes up a real wine – are formed.
  • In the final stage, the alcohol is removed from the wine.

Is non-alcoholic wine really alcohol-free?

Yes, all our products contain less than 0.5% alcohol . It is safe to use while driving or pregnant, but we always recommend consulting a doctor.

How long does non-alcoholic wine last?

Typically, the shelf life is 12-24 months from the date of manufacture. Store in a cool, dark place , and consume within 2-3 days of opening.

Can I pick it up on site?

We currently ship goods via couriers and parcel machines. If you are interested in picking up in Vilnius, please contact us and we can arrange this individually.

Are the drinks in your assortment suitable for making cocktails?

Exactly. We select products that have a strong character and do not "get lost" when mixed with other ingredients.

  • Ready-to-Drink: We have ready-to-drink cocktails in cans (e.g., "ISH Mojito" or "Spritz"), which only need to be chilled.
  • Base for creation: Our botanical distillates are an ideal base for non-alcoholic "Negroni", "Margarita" or "Gin & Tonic" variants.

How long do drinks stay fresh after opening?

Since our beverages do not contain alcohol (which acts as a preservative), their care differs slightly:

  • Sparkling Wine: Once opened, we recommend consuming the bottle within 2–3 days and storing it in the refrigerator to maintain its effervescence.
  • Botanical Distillates: Due to the high concentration of extracts, beverages such as "Gnista" retain their properties for up to 3 months after opening.
  • Canned Beverages: These are best consumed immediately after opening.

Does non-alcoholic wine and spirits contain a lot of sugar and calories?

Contrary to popular belief, non-alcoholic beverages are usually much lighter than traditional ones.

  • Fewer calories: Alcohol is caloric, so removing it drastically reduces the calorie content of a drink (often by 2–4 times).
  • Sugar content: Although some inexpensive manufacturers try to "improve" the taste with sugar, we select premium brands (e.g., "Noughty") that have very low sugar content and are suitable even for those on a diet or who appreciate a dry taste.

Why does non-alcoholic wine cost similarly to regular wine?

It's a common myth that "alcohol-free" should be cheaper. In fact, the process is even more complex:

  1. Double Production: First, a high-quality traditional wine is produced.
  2. Dealcoholization: Expensive equipment (vacuum distillation or reverse osmosis) is required to remove alcohol without damaging the flavour molecules.
  3. Logistics and Selection: Small batches and high quality standards ensure that you get not "grape water" but a top-level taste.

Do non-alcoholic drinks taste as good as traditional ones?

This is the main fear we help overcome. The short answer is: modern technology has changed everything.

  • Flavor depth: The producers we select focus on ensuring that the drink has "body". For example, non-alcoholic red wine has tannins, and botanical distillates have a pungency that mimics the warmth alcohol creates on the palate.
  • Not just sweetness: We avoid products that resemble lemonade. Our collection is dominated by dry, complex flavors with notes of oak, smoke, herbs, or specific grape varieties (e.g., Chardonnay).
  • Our filter: Before reaching the virtual shelves of viskines.lt, all beverages undergo our personal tasting. If a drink lacks "character", you won't find it here.

Can I drive after enjoying non-alcoholic cocktails?

Unequivocally – yes.

  • The drinks we offer have no psychoactive effect and do not exceed permitted norms.
  • This is an ideal solution for parties, weddings, or business lunches when you want to maintain the general mood, raise a toast, but later safely get behind the wheel and feel great the next morning.

Are non-alcoholic beverages safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women?

This is one of the most common questions, and we answer it with utmost responsibility.

  • 0.0% vs 0.5%: Our assortment includes beverages that are completely alcohol-free (0.0%) and those that are considered non-alcoholic according to EU standards (up to 0.5%). The latter amount is naturally found even in very ripe bananas or kefir.
  • Safety: Although these drinks are designed as a safe alternative, every body is individual, so we always recommend pregnant women consult their doctor, especially regarding botanical extracts (herbs) present in distillates.

How does non-alcoholic wine differ from regular grape juice?

The key difference is fermentation.

  • Non-alcoholic wine goes through all the stages of real wine production: grapes are fermented, and their aroma, acidity, and tannins are formed.
  • Only in the very last stage, using low-temperature vacuum distillation (up to 30°C), is the alcohol removed, preserving the authentic taste of the wine. Juices do not undergo such a process, so they are simply a sweet drink, while non-alcoholic wine is a complex product.

Are your products suitable for vegans?

Most of our non-alcoholic wines are vegan , but we always indicate this in the product description. If in doubt, please ask.
